What’s fun about soapmaking with kids is it’s basically melt, add color and scent, and pour into the mold. It’s super easy and very affordable. Plus kids love making their own soap to use or giveaway.
With the release of the newest superhero movie, we gathered our supplies and made a batch of superhero soap for kids.
DIY Superhero Soap for Kids
Materials:
1-2 lb clear glycerin soap block
Green and yellow soap colorant
4-5 drops of essential oil (optional)
Avenger Silicone mold (preferably 2 of these)
(2) 1 Cup glass measuring cups
Directions:
Cut the glycerin into small chunks using a sharp knife and place in a microwave safe glass measuring cup. Microwave half a pound of the glycerin in 1 minute increments, stirring until completely melted. You can also melt the soap in a small pot on the stove top over low heat.
If using essential oil, allow the melted soap base to cool for a few minutes. Then add 4-5 drops and stir. Add in a few drops of green soap coloring. You can also use food coloring.
You can make the soaps one super hero at a time or you can make them both at once. To make them one at a time: Pour the green melted soap into Hulk fist. Let set for one hour. Re-melt the soap and mold again in the Hulk fist. Continue this until you make as many Hulk bars as you need or want.
To make the Iron Man soaps, simply repeat melting more glycerin in separate glass container or pot on the stove. This time add a few drops of yellow food or soap coloring. Pour the yellow glycerin into the Iron Man section. Let the soaps set for about 1 hour.
You can make the Hulk and Iron Man soaps at the same time. Just melt, dye, pour green and repeat for yellow. Let sit until solid, pop out and start again.
Store the soap in a plastic container away from moisture. These are great to give as gifts and party favors for parties.
