Welcome to Growing Up Gabel! Thanks for taking a minute to learn more about us – The Gabels.
My name is Camille Gabel and I am a wife, blogger and mom to Ella (2006) and Miles (2008). My husband, Mitch, and I have been married since 2004. We have called Las Vegas, Nevada home for over 15 years. We originally came from Michigan (Camille) and Long Island, New York (Mitch). We don’t miss the snow!
Straight out of college with a BA in Religion and Music, I worked for a small tour operator (a type of travel agency). I had the amazing opportunity to travel in the Middle East.
While that job was the best one I’ve ever had, I decided I needed to find a job that could actually pay the bills. I started law school. I met Mitch, who was working on a doctorate in music, my 2nd year in law school. In 2004 I earned both my J.D. Cum Laude from Michigan State University School of Law and gained a “Mrs” and a new last name.
I started blogging in 2007 as a means of sharing our lives with our families on the east coast. I quickly realized I could share so much more than just my family on my blog.
I am a busy homeschooling mom and wife and the older I get, the less time I seem to have. I also work another communications job part-time at our church. So trust me, if I can cook, create, sew, make, and go – then so can you! I am almost entirely a self-taught cook, knitter, and crafter and learned because I wanted to. I hope that what I share here is an inspiration that you can do it, too!
I am passionate about University of Michigan sports, knitting, and traveling. I hope someday to get back to traveling the world but for now, our travel involves national parks, tents, and an occasional theme park.
