Make an easy apple slab pie with cinnamon rolls crust using canned cinnamon rolls and store bought (or homemade) apple pie filling. Top with a cream cheese drizzle for a quick easy apple pie.
Slab pies are the best thing to happen to pie baking since… sliced bread. Making a slab pie is so fun and easy and everyone loves them. Plus they feed so many more people than a small 8 or 9 inch pie. This one is almost as easy as making our 3 Ingredient Crock Pot Apple Cobbler with Muffin Mix!
This apple slab pie is so fun and easy to make with cans of cinnamon rolls and store bought apple pie filling. You can totally use your own homemade apple pie filling, too, if you prefer. The cinnamon rolls add a fun flavor to this apple slab pie. A crumble topping drizzled with a semi-homemade cream cheese frosting makes this homemade pie easy and delicious.
Easy Apple Slab Pie with Cinnamon Rolls Crust
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Grease a rimmed cookie sheet with your preferred method. You can use a spray, butter, or an oil. A rimmed cookie sheet is also called a half sheet or a jelly roll pan. You definitely need edges for this slab pie.
Start by making a crumb topping. In a large mixing bowl, mix together the flour, brown sugar, salt and cinnamon and butter with your fingers or fork until crumbly. Mix in the pecans and set aside.
NOTE: There are oats in the photos but we later adjusted the recipe with no oats to make it more like a Dutch apple pie. Just stick to the recipe as written and you will be good.
Pop open the cinnamon roll containers and lay out the cinnamon rolls onto a cutting board. Cut the cinnamon rolls in half.
Flatten out each cinnamon roll half evenly and place onto the cookie sheet. Cover the entire bottom and sides of the pan.
Spread the 4 cans of apple pie filling evenly on top of the cinnamon rolls. If you would rather use a homemade apple pie filling, that will work, too.
Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly on top of the apple pie filling. Bake in the oven for 50 – 65 min or until the cinnamon rolls are golden brown on top. Remove from the oven and allow the pie to cool for an hour.
After the pie has cooled, add the cream cheese drizzle. Place the cinnamon roll icing into a small bowl and heat in the microwave for 30 seconds. In a medium bowl, whisk together the softened cream cheese and the icing until smooth. Use a spoon to drizzle the icing over the slab pie.
Cut into squares to serve and enjoy!
