Skip the cans this year and make your own cranberry sauce! Ready in just 15 minutes with only 3 ingredients, you’ll wonder why you never made it before.
I’ve never really paid much attention to the cranberries on the Thanksgiving table. My dad likes the jelly cranberries and it just didn’t look appetizing. But the bags of fresh cranberries were calling to me in the grocery store and I caved.
I was surprised to find out that making cranberry sauce is super easy. All you need are water, sugar and the berries. From there you can doctor up the sauce with orange juice, blueberries, dried fruit, and even spices. I add a drop each of clove essential oil, nutmeg essential oil, cassia essential oil, ginger essential oil, and frankincense essential oil.
The sauce thickens as it cools and it can be made days ahead of time. You could even freeze for a later use.
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 bag (12-16 oz) fresh cranberries
- Dissolve the sugar in the water in a medium size pot over medium high heat.
- Once the sugar is dissolved, add the cranberries to the pot. The cranberries will begin to pop and break open. This takes about 10 minutes.
- Remove from heat and flavor as desired.
