Hazelnut Coffee DIY Sugar Lip Scrub Recipe
Supplies
- White sugar
- Coconut oil
- Hazelnut flavored syrup (you can add any coffee flavored syrup or extract you like)
- Instant coffee, espresso or coffee grounds
- Small airtight containers
Instructions
Add sugar and coconut oil to a small bowl. If you don’t want to smell the coconut then make sure to use refined coconut oil. If you don’t mind the coconut smell, then any coconut oil works fine. If you don’t have coconut oil any natural oil will work like olive oil, almond oil, grape seed oil, etc. Just don’t use a man made oil like corn oil.
Next add hazelnut flavored syrup to the sugar and coconut oil. You can find hazelnut syrup in your grocery store or local coffee shop or I’ve even seen them in the liquor store. You can also order on Hazelnut Syrup on Amazon. If you don’t have it or can’t find the hazelnut syrup, just skip it! You can use any flavored coffee syrup or even honey in place of it as well.
Add the instant coffee to the sugar mixture. We’re big fans of these Cafe Bustelo single packs. They are great for recipes, crafts and to make a quick cup of great coffee.
Mix the sugar scrub together thoroughly. If mixture is not sticking together, add more coconut oil, one teaspoon at a time until the desired consistency.
Spoon the homemade lip scrub in to small airtight containers. Use the back of the spoon to very lightly pack the sugar scrub into the container. You don’t want it packed too tightly but you also want to get enough in so it’s useful.
These sugar lip scrubs make great gifts. They are quick, easy and inexpensive to make. Pair with homemade lip balm or homemade coffee lotion bar for a great little pampering gift.
