Visiting San Diego SeaWorld is a great way to pass a hot summer day, but it’s also the home of some amazing things. These 7 Must See Attractions at San Diego SeaWorld are perfect for the whole family to enjoy together. SeaWorld is a great place to spend the day learning and having fun.
We first visited San Diego SeaWorld in 2010 when our kids were 1, 4 and 10. We’ve visited many of the major theme parks in Southern California, and Sea World is one of our favorites. In fact, it’s currently my husband’s favorite theme park even topping our Walt Disney World Honeymoon! That’s saying something.
Our trip to SeaWorld was a last second decision and so I didn’t have a plan of attack when we visited. I usually layout a plan to avoid crowds and peak hours. We still had a great day and found that San Diego Sea World is a great place for all ages.
7 Must See Attractions at San Diego SeaWorld
Shamu Stadium Show: Shamu has been a standard main attraction at Sea World since the beginning and there’s good reason it’s still a favorite Sea World attraction. The show is fun, and often a bit wet for those who are in attendance.
Make sure to sit in the Splash Zone if you don’t mind getting wet, but if you prefer, the higher bleachers give you just as good a view without getting too wet. There are typically multiple shows each day, so check with the daily schedule you get at the entrance to find out the best time for your family.
Pets Rule!: This fun show is a blast and it was one of our favorites. Watch dogs and cats perform fun stunts and tricks in the theater. Kids especially love this one! So much fun to see a dog act like a human, put out fires and more! We caught the show later in the day and the kids were tired, but they sat through the entire thing. We wished we’d gone earlier so we had time to go twice.
Shipwreck Rapids: This fun water ride is a great way to cool off after a day in the sun. It’s one everyone will enjoy, but expect to get pretty soaked. It was actually overcast and cloudy the day we went so I was glad to see some air dryers outside the ride to dry your clothes, but expect to pay a small fee to use them.
Sea Lions Live!: This fun show really is one the entire family will love. From the fun staff members singing and dancing, the the amazing tricks the Sea Lions perform, everyone will be laughing and smiling nonstop. The tricks are great, but the hilarious script is what keeps you coming back over and over again to watch this show.
Penguin Encounter: This experience is one of a lifetime. With nearly 300 penguins in the park, you’ll have fun watching their silly antics alongside your kids. Penguins are one of the most beloved creatures featured at Sea World and are well worth the time to explore and watch in their habitat.
Sesame Street Bay Of Play: This area of Sea World is a great option for younger kids and toddlers. It was a hit with our then 1 and 4 year old, but a little too kiddie for our 10 year old. With splash pads and tunnels to explore and get wet, to the small roller coaster and fun spinning rides that are easy for the little ones to enjoy, this is a perfect destination for moms and dads to relax while kids just run and have fun.
Feed the Sea Lions: One area of the park has the Sea Lion habitat and an opportunity to buy a small tray of fish to feed the Sea Lions. This is a great activity for your kids to enjoy sliding the fish through the holes in the barrier and watching the Sea Lions fight over who will eat it. This is a great option for those who want some hands on interaction, but don’t have the budget for a full fledged encounter or behind the scenes look.
These must see things in SeaWorld San Diego are just a small portion of what this park has to offer. From marine life habitats, to great thrill seeker rides this is a must visit location in the San Diego area. As the video above will show, this is a place full of fun and laughter for everyone.
