DIY LEGO boxes are perfect to keep kids busy playing while traveling or waiting. They tuck away into a purse, diaper bag or carry on so you can always have one or two on hand when the kids get antsy. All you need to make one is an ordinary plastic pencil box and Lego Block Tape.

Which Toy Brick Tape is the Best?
There are quite a few toy bricktape brands on the market. They all seem to have mixed reviews. The brand we used worked well and stuck to the pencil box well. It’s essential to make sure to clean the surface of the box well with the rubbing alcohol and to let it dry completely before you put the tape on.
You could also try using peel-and-stick self-adhesive building brick plates. Just cut them the size of your box.
How to Make a DIY LEGO Toy Brick Box
Gently wipe the inside of the pencil box with a paper towel soaked in rubbing alcohol. Let dry completely.
Use scissors to trim the strip of adhesive block tape to fit the box. Cut the desired number of strips to fit into the box. Make sure the strips lay flat on the box and don’t cover any ridges in the box.
Gently place the strips onto the box and press firmly to adhere. Repeat until you have the desired number of strips to fill the box. If you have any trouble with the tape sticking, use a little glue to hold it down.
Stick a few bricks on the tape strips in the box as you go to make sure they are lined up correctly, and the bricks fit well. If the bricks don’t fit, then adjust the tape.
You can also put strips on the lid, as long as it’s a flat and smooth.

Add Lego bricks to the box and play! When finished playing, close up the box and store it.
DIY Lego boxes are perfect for travel, waiting at the restaurant, long drives, and any other time you need to keep kids busy on the go.
