Hot Buttered Rum

Make your own homemade hot butter rum mix to make hot buttered rum with just hot water, butter, and rum. Leave the alcohol out for a family-friendly and kid-friendly winter beverage.

Ingredients
  

  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 Tablespoon butter
  • ½ shot of rum
  • 1-2 cups of boiling water

Instructions
 

To Make the Mix:

  • Measure and combine the brown sugar, white sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice together.
  • Place in a mason jar and shake to mix together. Store in a cool, dry place.

To Make a Cup of Hot Buttered Rum:

  • Scoop out 2 Tablespoons of hot buttered rum mix into the bottom of a mug or glass.
  • Add the butter to the mug or glass.
  • Pour in the boiling water and mix to dissolve sugar and the butter.
  • Add the shot of rum and mix once more. Enjoy!
