What is a hot buttered rum?

This hot drink apparently was popular during Colonial times. It is a pretty simple combination of brown sugar, white sugar, winter spices, butter, and rum.  The spices include nutmeg, allspice, and cinnamon. These were all ingredients easily found in that time era.

It sounds weird to put butter in a drink, but it’s delicious! It makes the cocktail super creamy. You can even make a kid-friendly version of this drink for decorating the tree by leaving out the rum. It’s the perfect winter drink for everyone in the house.
