Equipment

  • Pencil or Marker for Tracing onto Felt
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue and hot glue gun
  • Upholstery Needle (a regular needle can be used, but this makes it super easy to add the string to hang the ornament)

Materials

  • Free Printable Pattern
  • Emoji Easter Eggs
  • Red Felt
  • White Felt
  • White Pom Poms - about 1/2" in size
  • Red Embroidery Floss

Instructions

  • Print santa hat pattern for the emoji ornaments.
  • Trace the pattern onto the red and white felt. You will need 1 set per ornament.
  • Cut out the felt. Set the felt for the hats aside for now.
  • Use a hot glue gun to glue the eggs together so they no longer can pop open.
  • Dab a bit of hot glue in the center, wide bottom part of the red felt. Affix to the front center of the egg.
  • Add hot glue on the remaining rim of the red felt and attach all the way around the egg to make a cone shape.
  • Put a small amount of hot glue to the center of the red felt.
  • Press the white strip of felt onto the glue. Add hot glue on the rest of the white felt and wrap around the hat and affix to the red.
  • Fold down one side of the hat. Add hot glue and affix to the side of the red hat. Add a white pom pom with hot glue to the end of the cap.
  • Cut a 6-8″ piece of embroidery floss. Do not separate the strands; use all 6 for one ornament. Thread it through the needle. Insert the needle into the top of the hat and tie a slip knot to hang the ornament on the tree.

Notes

Make sure when you print the pattern, you uncheck the box that says “reduce to fit” or “fit to page.” Otherwise, the pattern will not print out as the correct size. Due to the difference variance in the size of the Easter eggs, cut out one pattern and make sure it fits around the top of the ornament. If it does not, cut it bigger or smaller as needed.
