Emoji Ornaments Directions:
Start by printing out the hat pattern for the emoji ornaments. This pattern is free to our newsletter subscribers.
Download the pattern and save it to your computer. Next, print the pattern. Make sure when you print the pattern, you uncheck the box that says “reduce to fit” or “fit to page.” Otherwise, the pattern will not print out as the correct size. Due to the difference variance in the size of the Easter eggs, cut out one pattern and make sure it fits around the top of the ornament. If it does not, cut it bigger or smaller as needed.
Make Felt Santa Hats
Once the pattern is cut out and fits correctly, trace the pattern onto the red and white felt. You will need 1 set per ornament. Use scissors to cut out the felt. Set the felt for the hats aside for now.
You will want to make sure that your eggs don’t accidentally pop open on the tree. Use a hot glue gun to glue the eggs together so they no longer can pop open.
Next, put the hats on the emoji eggs you have picked out to use. Start by dabbing a bit of hot glue in the center, wide bottom part of the red felt. Affix to the front center of the egg.
Add hot glue on the remaining rim of the red felt and attach all the way around the egg to make a cone shape.
Next, you will add the white brim of the hat onto the red felt. Put a small amount of hot glue to the center of the red felt.
Press the white strip of felt onto the glue. Add hot glue on the rest of the white felt and wrap around the hat and affix to the red.
Fold down one side of the hat. Add hot glue and affix to the side of the red hat. Add a white pom pom with hot glue to the end of the cap.
Cut a 6-8″ piece of embroidery floss. Do not separate the strands; use all 6 for one ornament. Thread it through the needle. Insert the needle into the top of the hat and tie a slip knot to hang the ornament on the tree.
Repeat the process for each ornament you want to make.
