The constant uncleanly state of my kids’ rooms drives me absolutely crazy. Now, I’m not exactly the neatest person in the world. In fact, I’m quite messy. I do my best to keep my messes to my own little corners (like my desk) and keep the public area of our home neat. But when I can’t even walk in to a room, well, enough is enough.
Our entire family spent Labor Day weekend purging, organizing and cleaning two very messy kids rooms. We managed to give away 6 trash bags full of “stuff” as well as numerous stuffed animals. Even more amazingly, the kids have managed to keep their rooms neat and tidy for almost three weeks! Less is truly more when it comes to kids.
One thing that really makes a bedroom appear to be messy is an unmade bed. Only my kids took it one step further and managed to make their beds look like a tornado had just gone through. It was time to make a change and try out ZipIt Kids Bedding set. My son has bunk beds in his room. The top bunk in the photo above used to be what his bottom bunk looked like. With ZipIt, the bed has stayed neat and tidy.
ZipIt is an all in one bedding system for kids. It’s sheets and comforter all rolled in to one. The comforter attaches to the sheets with a a zipper. It folds down like a sleeping bag and zips up to keep kids warm, tucked in and comfy all night long with no kicked-off covers. In fact, my son’s first comment after his first night with ZipIt was that he was warm. He used to kick off all his covers and be cold all night long.
ZipIt has built-in zippered side pockets for storing items like a cell phone, flashlight, or diary. There is a pocket on both sides of the bed for easy access. This has been great for storing a little flashlight.
I was a little worried that ZipIt wouldn’t allow my son to move around while sleeping and wake him up. But the end of the bed is completely open and the zippers easily unzip when he tosses and turns – without coming off.
ZipIt comes with reversible patterns that make it a snap to change up the look. I love the zig zags, but my son wants the sports so that’s side that’s showing.
The biggest issue I have with ZipIt is that you need a large loading washer and dryer to wash it. I don’t have one so I have to take the whole thing to my dad’s house to wash it. That’s a major pain. I’d love if it came apart more for easy washing in a regular washer and dryer. Other than that issue, we’re ordering another one for my daughter’s room so her bed can look neat and tidy, too.
