Let the kids make this cute pine cone turkey this Thanksgiving. An easy kids craft, our turkey is a great way to let the kids be creative while the turkey cooks.
It is easy getting into the season of thanks when you give this pine cone turkey craft a try. All you need is a pine cone and a few common crafting supplies and in no time you can make this grateful gobbler.
If you don’t have any pine cones, make sure to check out our Pom Pom Turkey craft for another adorable turkey to make for Thanksgiving.
Supplies needed:
Pine cone
Assorted colors of pipe cleaners
Tan felt
Googly eyes
Scissors
Craft glue
Pick out about four pipe cleaners in various colors. These will be the turkey’s feathers. Get creative and make a bunch of colorful birds! Begin by twisting your pipe cleaners into oval shapes. Add some craft glue to the tips of the pipe cleaner ovals and press them to the back of the pine cone. You may want to let them sit for a minute to set.
Pick out some googly eyes. This turkey has small eyes but a big eyed turkey would be fun. Add some glue to the googly eyes and press them to the upper front and center of the pine cone.
Next, use scissors to cut a small triangle from the tan felt. This will be the turkey’s beak so you could also use orange or even black felt if you don’t have any tan. You can then place the triangle (your beak) directly below the eyes.
Twist a small piece of red pipe cleaner and glue it under the beak to look like the gobbler – or wattle as it’s technically called. Your pine cone turkey is now ready to be displayed!

November 6, 2016Those would make great place settings. You could have a card sticking up from the cone with the guest’s name. Holidays are a great time for crafts! cheers, kidcandoodle
