Figuring out how to paint textured walls can be tricky, but thanks to Textured Surface by FrogTape, you can now get crisp lines and edges on your textured walls!
My husband and I bought our first home, a two story town home, just over 5 years ago. Like much of Las Vegas, our home is only about 10 years old so it was move in ready when we bought it. While it was livable, however, the interior was just the contractor basics of flat white paint, beige carpet and ugly linoleum. The firs tthing we did before we even moved in was to start painting the walls. The day we closed we were ready to paint. We soon realized, though, that the entire townhome had textured walls and painting textured walls is not easy.
In the past 5 years we’ve tried every trick in the book to paint our textured walls and get clean, crisp edges and lines but to no avail. What we got were bleed throughs and really terrible edges. Our master bedroom was the worst – and I’m not just talking about the color!
I’m usually really good with choosing colors for rooms, but the purple we painted our master bedroom was awful. But I already had the paint so we went with it. I have spent 5 years looking at those terrible edges on the ceiling line. You could literally peel the paint off. Enough was enough and I chose a dark navy blue to paint the room. I love dark colors and even though just about everyone tried to talk me out of doing the entire room in navy, I went for it.
This time we used FrogTape® Textured Surface™ tape to tape off the edges. FrogTape® Textured Surface is treated with the patented PaintBlock™ Technology, a super absorbent polymer that reacts with the water in latex paint and instantly gels to form a micro-barrier that seals the edges of the tape, which helps prevent paint bleed.
In adition to the tape’s PaintBlock™ Technology, it also comes with Liquid PaintBlock® Edge Sealer™. The sealer helps deliver super sharp paint lines, even on textured surfaces. We used the sealer on an arched doorway leading from our bedroom to our bathroom to make sure we got super crisp lines.
You don’t have to use the sealer, though. On the ceiling line, we made sure to burnish the tape with a credit card so it was secure on the wall and then dampened the edges with some water to activate the PaintBlock™.
We love, love, love this tape! If you have textured walls and are tired of bleeding edges, you have to give it a try. I love how my new navy blue bedroom looks and I’m not wincing at terrible edges anymore.

It is a game changer! Of course, now I want to go back and fix all the terrible edges we have in the rest of the house!
This is an amazing product! I absolutely love the color you chose, too. You must rest so well at night!
Thank you! I absolutely love it! I just need to find something for the walls, now.
