Make 2018 the year of EDUCATION with a word of the year that focuses on making changes that will last a lifetime.

A few months ago we shared a post of 4 Reasons for Nevada Moms to Enroll in College.  With the new year, it’s time to stop delaying and just go for it.

Make your word for 2018  – EDUCATION.

As moms, we are always on our kids about school and homework, aren’t we? But what about us? We need to keep learning and growing and expanding our minds, too.

How to Make EDUCATION Your Word for 2018

Read More Books: I used to read a lot as a kid. I’d read a book a day. But as I got older and life got busier, reading took a back seat to other things – like making dinner.  This year make a commitment to read more books. Even if that means just reading one book! No judging here. Your kids probably have to read for school anyway so join them!

Learn a New Skill or Hobby: If you haven’t read much then you probably haven’t had time for hobbies either. Take some time this year to learn how to knit or how to sew or how to dance – whatever thing has piqued your interest. I taught myself how to knit almost 15 years ago using a little booklet. I’ve loved it ever since!

Go Back to School: Go beyond just a hobby and start a new career. Stop putting it off and wondering if or when you should. Western Governor’s University makes it easy to start 2018 off with a plan to get your degree or continue your education with their New Year New You scholarship program.

Students who apply to WGU by March 31, 2018, are eligible to apply for the New Year, New You Scholarship. Each scholarship will provide up to $2,000 per student for up to 100 students.  This scholarship is open to new students who have been officially admitted to WGU.

While multiple scholarships will be awarded, this is a competitive program, and scholarships will be awarded based on a candidate’s academic record, readiness for online study, and current competency, as well as other considerations.

And don’t worry about actually having to go to school. WGU is an online university so you can take classes right in your living room.

If you love school, then this the perfect opportunity to roll up your sleeves and dig in to make a better future for YOU!

This isn’t a word I would have thought of for my year, but I LOVE the idea behind it. So versatile to improve yourself as well as help loved ones!
