Gather your family and your neighbors and spend some time outside together this summer. Plan a few simple activities and provide delicious snacks to keep everyone fueled up to make fun summer memories.

We have lived in our current neighborhood for 6 years. Las Vegas is a very transient town and we have had a lot of great neighbors come and go. Right now, our neighborhood is full of kids.  On any afternoon or weekend we have at least 10 kids outside running around and playing together.  I’ve been wanting to get the parents outside with their kids to have some fun and spend time with our kids. It was time to put together a block party with a fun play date set provided by Quaker.

I sent around some invitations and simply invited families to come outside to play together on a Saturday morning.  We opened up our backyard and set out a few items for families to play with, if they chose.  Quaker® Chewy® Granola Bars sent us a huge basket full of outdoor fun including a bocce set, sidewalk chalk, a puzzle, a Nerf ball and a bubble machine.  Of course, we had lots of Quaker Chewy Granola bars on hand to keep everyone fueled up and ready to play.

We set the bubble machine up in the front of the house on the morning of our party.  That machine put out bubbles like crazy and the kids came streaming in to play.

Once they found the Nerf ball a huge game of soccer ensued in the street.  The tired kids eventually made their way in to the backyard for a snack.  Quaker Chewy Bars are delicious grab and go snacks.  They contain 8 grams of whole grains in every bar and come in a lot of fun flavors like Chocolate Chip and S’mores.

Throwing a block party is a great way to meet your neighbors and spend some time playing with your kids.  To help inspire families’ playtime together and fuel fun, Quaker is inviting parents to participate in its Keep Playing! With Chewy promotion for a chance to win $25,000 to make over their family’s play space. To enter, parents are encouraged to submit a photo of their family’s favorite play space and share how they would like to see that space made over and why.

Now through June 13, 2015, parents can visit www.ChewyKeepPlaying.com to enter for a chance to win a $25,000 grand prize to make over their family’s favorite play space – plus, weekly chances to win a $500 gift card. No purchase necessary. See www.ChewyKeepPlaying.com for official rules.

We love going on many adventures as a family, but one of our favorite times is simply playing in the backyard. The kids love the swingset and sandbox. They would love this bubble machine and Nerf toys.
