Start the summer with bang by throwing a “Have A Sweet Summer” party on the last day of school! Bring the sweet and treat yourself and your kids to a yummy dessert from our sponsor EDWARDS ® Desserts.

The end of May signals the beginning of summer for most families. For our family, it also signals the END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR!  No alarm clocks for weeks.  Late dinners eaten outside.  Long lazy afternoons spent at the pool. Lots of time spent together with family. Summer is the best!

So why not slam the door shut on the school year and start summer with an afternoon or evening of family fun with a little party.

“Have A Sweet Summer” Party

I decided to celebrate the end of the school year and our first day of summer with a little sweet treat for my kids.  But I wanted it to be a special occasion and a surprise. So instead of just swinging through the fast food drive through as a treat, I brought home my A game and set up a dessert party in the backyard.

I set up the dessert stand in our backyard beverage cart. A cooler would work just as well. I picked up some fun straws and summer themed cups at the dollar store to add a little color and whimsy.

You can’t have a summer party without ice cream, but I wanted some color and rainbow sherbet is just fun! I scooped the sherbet out into paper cups, again from the dollar store, and froze them in the cups.

For drinks, I made a batch of guava pink lemonade, which my entire family is obsessed with right now.  Serving it in this cute bottle was a big hit with the kids.

Since ice cream is pretty typical for summer,  I wanted something special for the day. So I picked up a frozen EDWARDS ® Desserts. I chose the Lemon Meringue Pie to match with my color scheme and I’m glad I did. That dessert was over the top amazing!

Look at those delicious layers! And the crust is made out of vanilla cookies instead of the typical graham crackers.  I’ve never made a meringue pie at home because it’s just a little fussy. We will definitely be eating more Edwards Desserts this summer!
