I love ranch salad dressing, but there are certain times when a salad demands it. For instance, I like a tossed salad with ranch dressing when I eat pizza. So I wanted to have a homemade version ready to go when I wanted it. I tried several different recipes and none of them fit the bill.
I finally compiled all the good parts of several recipes and got a ranch dressing I like! This ranch is runnier than the bottled version. I added a few spoons full of mayonnaise to thicken it up, but it was still runny. If you want a thick dressing, cut back on the buttermilk and add in more mayo (or sour cream or yogurt to your preference).
Homemade Ranch Dressing
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/8 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon dried chives
- 1/4 teaspoon dill weed
Whisk all ingredients together. Serve or refrigerate.
