I hate wrapping Christmas gifts. I try really hard to do a little at a time so I dont’ get overwhelmed. One year I crazily waited until Christmas Eve to do ALL the wrapping… yeah, that’s not a great way to kick off a jolly Christmas, let me tell you. For the kids, I still wrap presents with wrapping paper, but everyone else gets a gift bag because it’s quick and easy!
I like to keep plain brown gift bags on hand to let the kids decorate for gifts for any occassion. This year we used Duck Brand® Holiday designs to make few quick, easy and super cute gift bags. We did the bags two different ways.
For the first bag, I used all the different prints and left space between each strip. I just winged it with the lengths. I put the bottom strip on first making sure the tape went pretty much the entire length of the bag. Then I just went smaller as I went up the bag. I would advise using scissors, though, for a nice crisp edge on your tree. You can see on the bottom two strips, I just ripped the tape, but I prefer the cleaner edges of the top two strips.
On the second bag, I used just the green ribbon tape for the tree and placed the strips right on top of each other. I wanted this one to look more like a “real” tree. I used the red tape for the trunk of the tree. I cut out one of the bows on the green tape to be the star of the tree, but it kind of blended in. Maybe we should have done a penguin, instead!
My 7 year old daughter helped me make the bags so these would be great for kids to make for gifts for friends and family!
