I’m a planner by nature, but I tend to put off thinking about back to school until August 1st.  This year, for the first time ever, I’m sending my kids to school.  Ella will be entering 1st grade and I’m thinking about enrolling Miles in pre-school for a few days each week.  While I knew the kids needed vaccinations for school, I was surprised to see a physical form in Miles’ enrollment packet.  He needed to go see the doctor for the OK to go to school.

I immediately called our doctor’s office for an appointment.  It was August 1st so I was surprised to learn that our doctor was booked solid until the first week in September – and school starts August 26th.   So now what?  Walgreens Healthcare Clinics to the rescue!

I had never been to a Walgreens clinic before. Walgreens TakeCare Clinics have revamped and they now have NEW Healthcare Clinics. I was happy to see that Walgreens is offering a special price on back to school physicals.  Through the end of September back to school physicals are only $39. That’s only $9 more than our co-pay for a doctor’s visit and I could get in before Halloween!

Walgreens HealthClinics offer both appointments and walk in service. Because I was taking a 4 year old, I opted to make an appointment.  Making an appointment was super easy on-line and I was able to see what was available at numerous stores so I could pick the date, time and place that worked best for us.

The day of our appointment we arrived at the clinic about 10 minutes early to find no line at all so we could have just walked right in.  The clinic and the waiting area was really nice!

The check in process was quick and easy on a computer.  We were ready to go in just a few minutes.

Miles did great and the physicians assistant who did the exam was great with him.  Miles is not a big fan of  doctors and the physicians assistant put him right at ease.  I was really happy with our experience at the clinic

I totally have to see if there is a Walgreens around us that offers all of this. This is great and I am so happy that walgreens has stepped up to do this!

I didn’t know Walgreens had a walk in clinic, good to know for the weekends when my doctor’s office is closed.

This is seriously awesome! I need to make sure my son is up to date with his shots and it takes FOREVER to get in at his doctor unless he’s sick! Thanks for sharing!
