Finding a Handyman Service through

A reputable handyman service can be hard to find.  Redbeacon asked me to try out their online service to find a handyman service for a small kitchen project.

I grew up in a small town where everyone knew everyone else’s business.   While that can be a major pain when you’re a teenager trying to have a social life, it was a major bonus when finding a plumber, electrician, handyman service or any other kind of service.  Living in a metropolitan area means we have a lot available to use and finding a reputable business of any kind can be difficult.  While I usually rely on recommendations from friends, they are often giving out that same name over and over so their favorite handyman is busy.

In general, my husband and I love to do projects ourselves around the house.  Occasionally, though, we run out of time or energy to complete home improvement tasks and we want some to DIFM (Do It For Me!).  Such was the case when we decided to replace our kitchen sink and faucet.  The faucet arrived the day my husband went back to work so we knew if we wanted the sink and faucet replaced before Christmas, we needed some DIFM!

Last month I ran across the website Redbeacon when searching for a housecleaning service online.  Redbeacon is a free online service that matches you with background-checked pros for your home-service projects. Simply submit a few details about the size and scope of the job, and Redbeacon delivers you up to 4 quotes from trusted pros in your area. All responses are email-based, so you can select pros and schedule the work straight from your laptop or mobile device.

Setting up an account and requesting a pro took only a matter of minutes.  Within an hour of requesting a handyman to replace our sink and faucet, I received four quotes.  I read the reviews left on Redbeacon about each pro and chose the pro with the best reviews who also happened to quote me the cheapest price.  I responded to him right within the Redbeacon website and we set up a time for him to come do the install the next day.

One of the best parts of Redbeacon is that you can pay your pro right on their website.  As long as you pay your pro using Redbeacon’s online payments system, you’ll lock in the Redbeacon Guarantee. Redbeacon will chip in up to $1000 to make sure you’re satisfied with your pro’s work.  Vegas may not be a small town with small town referrals, but Redbeacon helps take the guess work out of finding the best pro for the job.

Thank you to Redbeacon for sponsoring this post!

Oooh this is timely–I’ll have to check it out. Normally we end up using TaskRabbit for this stuff, but it’s pretty hit or miss! It’s nice to have another resource.

      I’d completely forgotten about TaskRabbit!

I always feel lost as to where to go to find handymen in new areas when we move. And we move a lot. So this service would really help take a lot of the scare out of things. I love this idea.

RedBeacon sounds like a great service. We have had projects beyond our skill level (we try to DIY) and have not known who to call. We will have to look into using this next time we need it.

I have odd jobs around the house come up often. Red Beacon seems like the perfect place to start. I will give them a try.

What a great idea – I love the fact there is a bit of a ‘if all goes wrong’ clause with them paying up to 1000 if things go wrong 🙂 x
