In honor of National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day, my kids and I created a Peanut Butter and Jelly Grilled Sandwich recipe! A little butter and some heat will turn your plain Jane PB & J sandwich in to a fun lunchtime treat. Did you know that April 12th is National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day? It is and we couldn’t let that day slide by without a proper celebration!
In honor of the big day, Welch’s sent me some of their Welch’s Natural Spreads to create a peanut butter and jelly recipe with a twist. Welch’s Natural Spreads are right up my alley – they are not made with high fructose corn syrup and don’t have artificial flavors or colors or preservatives.
We used homemade bread, homemade peanut butter, Welch’s Concord Grape Natural Spread and butter to make our peanut butter and jelly grilled sandwiches. I simply made the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches like I normally would. Once the sandwich was made, I spread butter on the outside of both sides of the sandwich and grilled it on our griddle. It was so easy but the grilled sandwiches tasted so different than your normal PB&J!
What did the kids think? Take a look and see!
Want to join in on the peanut butter and jelly fun? Welch’s is running a Facebook contest “PB&J Your Way” where you can create your own unique spin on the classic sandwich for a chance to win $500 and a one year supply of grape jelly! Plus an additional 50 people will win a sandwich keeper.
I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Welch’s. I received product samples to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item as a thank-you for participating.
