Turn fingerprint art for kids in to a special keepsake for Mother’s day with a fun and easy bookmark craft.
Well, here we are with the paint crafts again! I hated using paint when my kids were little and it still makes me nervous. But this fingerprint for kids craft is just too cute to pass up. Plus the kids love it! I love any kind of hand print, foot print or fingerprint art that helps mom remember that her kids were once young.
Purple & Green craft paint
Purple & White Card Stock or paper
Glue
Pipe Cleaner
Scissors
Cut a rectangle about 8 inches long and 3 inches wide from the purple card stock or paper. Cut a rectangle slightly smaller from the white card stock, you want there to be a border around the white. Glue this white piece on top of the red piece. Punch a whole in the top of the bookmark and thread the pipe cleaner through. Twist it to attach.
To make the flowers, set out a small amount of the colors of paint you want to use. Put a little paint on index finger and create the petals. Two colors adds nice texture to the flowers.
Start with one color and make three fingerprints overlapping each other like above. Wipe off the finger and then use the second color in between each print to create a 6 petal flower.
Just keep working down the bookmark until it has as many as flowers as you want. Use more than two colors, too!
Make sure to write the date on the bookmark somewhere so mom remembers what year it was from. I know I love homemade gifts like this from my kids. It’s easy to forget as they grow how little they once were. And my kids LOVE to give me gifts they’ve made. While the paint may be a bit messy, the end result will leave both mommy and child with a happy memory.
these are adorable bookmarks. Something our girl scouts could make for their Mom’s.
Cute idea. Which I had seen this while with my grand kids. Thanks for sharing at the Inspiration Spotlight party. Pinned & shared.
What a sweet and beautiful Mother’s Day gift. Thanks for sharing on Toddler Fun Friday 🙂
Such a great idea! Love your choice of colours too. I think this concept would make adorable Mother’s Day cards too. Visiting via SITSSharefest
