Customize socks for St. Patrick’s Day with Cricut Infusible Ink using a pair from the dollar store, a heat press and a Cricut cutting machine.
These Kiss Me, I’m Irish socks are the perfect way to add green to your wardrobe for St. Patrick’s Day. Similar to our Valentine’s Day socks made with Cricut Iron-on, the St. Patrick’s Day socks are made by adding a fun saying, “Kiss Me… I’m Irish,” to the bottom of a pair of dollar store socks.
Rather than HTV, these socks are made with Cricut Infusible Ink. With Infusible Ink, the words become part of the sock fabric rather than just ironing vinyl onto the fabric. This is a quick and easy St. Patrick’s day craft that you can finish in under 30 minutes.

Open Design Space and create your saying.
We use Design Space on a Mac laptop.
On your laptop, open Design Space.
This project is available in Design Space as Kiss Me I’m Irish Socks with Infusible Ink. Make sure to follow me in Design Space to see my other projects. You can save the project in Design Space to use later on by clicking the little ribbon tab under the photos of the design.
You can edit the text on my project or add your own. I used the Cricut Sans font, which is free, but you can also change up the font to anything you like.
Resize the images to fit the bottom of your socks.
Use a ruler or tape measure to measure the bottom of your socks. Adjust the size of the sayings in Design Space so they will fit on the bottom of the socks. They do stretch, so take that into account when sizing. We made both sayings 2″ x 2″.

Send the image to your Cricut machine to cut.
Once you are happy with the design, make sure to save it. Just click “Save” at the top of Design Space.
Now that it’s saved choose your machine in the drop-down box on the top right.
Then click “Make it” on the top right of the screen.
Choose how to load your materials into the Cricut machine.
On the next screen, you will choose how to load the Infusible Ink into the machine. Infusible Ink is cut on a standard grip mat so you will choose the “For any material” option.
These socks are a great project for the Joy. The Joy is my favorite Cricut machine, so I will always use it if I have the chance. Cricut makes smaller Infusible Ink sheets specifically for the Joy. I used black Infusible Ink. s will
Click “Confirm” in the bottom right corner when you are ready to go.
Review the image before cutting.
You can review how the Cricut will cut your image on the next screen. You can move the image around as needed.
When using Infusible Ink, it is important to remember to mirror the image. If you don’t mirror the image, your design will turn out backwards when you iron it on. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve forgotten to mirror the image, so don’t worry if you forget. Just cut it again with the mirror on.
Cut the Infusible Ink sheet, so it fits on the mat and put it on a StandardGrip mat liner side down.
Cut the Infusible Ink sheet with your Cricut Machine
Once you click continue, Design Space will connect via BlueTooth to your machine. Once it has connected, you will choose the material you want to cut. You can click “Browse Materials” to find Infusible Ink.
Load the mat into the machine. The machine is set to cut at the default pressure required for your chosen material.
When the mat is loaded properly the “Go” button on the bottom right of the screen will highlight. Push that, and the machine will begin its cut.
Unload the mat when the cut is finished and click “Done” in Design Space. You are now ready to weed the design.
Weed out the excess Infusible Ink.
Remove the Infusible Ink from the mat by pulling the mat away from the sheets.
Weed out the excess Infusible Ink by gently bending the sheets. The ink is stiff and will pop off from the transfer sheet.
Fold a piece of copy paper to fit into the foot of the sock. Slide it and make sure it is flat. This will help prevent the ink from leaking onto the other side of the sock.
Use heat and pressure to adhere the sayings to the socks.
I love to use a Cricut Heat Press to iron the designs to fabric. For this project, we used EasyPress 2.
Cricut’s online heat guide will walk you through how to press the Infusible Ink on the socks. The Easy Press 3 use BlueTooth to connect to the Cricut Heat App to send the time and heat to the press.
Because Infusible Ink is ink, it’s important to protect your heat press. I set the base material tote bag since there isn’t a sock setting. Follow the instructions on the heat guide, making sure to protect your press with butcher paper. Make sure to place the sayings so that the bottom of the words is towards the toe. They go on the ink side down.
You can press the socks one at a time or both at once. Check the instructions and remove the liner as directed. Check the settings to see if the liner should be removed when completely cool or warm to the touch. For the socks, the liner was removed when cool to the touch. Allow the socks to cool completely before wearing them.
