We are now almost a month in to the new school year. One of my most dreaded times of day is after school. I really struggled last year to find a way to get the kids to change out of their uniforms, feed the dog, eat a snack and then do homework without ending up frazzled and yelling.
This year, I’m using technology as a reward because it works. And it helps me limit their screen time when they have to actually accomplish something first. The kids have to finish all the above without me asking or no screen time.
When choosing screen time, my kids rarely choose TV. It almost always involve a tablet or old phone. Our tablet of choice is the Amazon Fire. It’s inexpensive, easy to use and is kid friendly. This week I discovered another awesome feature from Amazon – Amazon Underground.
Amazon Underground is a catalog of 100% actually FREE apps and games available on the Fire tablet and Android devices. What does actually free mean? It means there are no hidden costs to play the game. No in-app purchases are needed to play the whole thing so I don’t have to worry about my kids buying things in-app. It’s fantastic!
I was pleasantly surprised to find many of my kids favorite games available on Amazon Underground.
Farm Simulator 14: This is hands down my 7 year old son’s favorite game. He was so excited to discover that he can now play it.
Inside Out Thought Bubbles: My kids loved Inside Out the movie so of course this app is a favorite, too.
Frozen Free Fall: Ok, so I might play this one, too. It’s one of our favorites!
Pony Girls Horse Care: This is where Amazon Underground really shines. My daughter loves these type of games, but usually can’t do much because it costs money to do certain things. But it’s all there with Amazon Underground.
Fireman Sam – Junior Cadet: We’ve outgrown this one, but the kids used to love Fireman Sam!
