Beer Braised Cabbage

Serves 4     adjust servings



  • 1 Tablespoon butter
  • 1 cup onion, sliced thin
  • 2 garlic cloves, diced
  • 12 oz stout beer
  • 2 teaspoons spicy brown mustard
  • 1/2 Tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 head small cabbage, chopped (about 3 cups)
  • Salt and pepper to taste


Melt butter in a large skillet on medium heat. Add onions and cook until soft, tender about 4-5 minutes. Add garlic and cook 1 minute longer. 

Stir in beer, mustard, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce in the skillet to combine. 

Add cabbage to skillet and coat in the sauce. 

Cover, reduce heat to low and cook for 8 minutes. 

After 8 minutes, remove the lid. Turn heat up until the sauce is bubbling. Allow the sauce to reduce by half. Remove from heat.

Add cooked Cooked Perfect Fire Grilled Chicken boneless thighs in Classic Style to the pan and nestle in the braised cabbage. Serve while still warm.
