Last year I officially became a “Baseball Mom” when my son signed up to play Little League baseball. This was my first experience having a child in a sport and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I was a little slow at first to warm up to the idea of spending my evenings and weekends at a ball field, but over the last year, watching my son play baseball has become one of my favorite ways to spend time supporting my son.
I didn’t play sports at all as a kid. I was more into music and acting. But I love that my son has found an activity he enjoys! So I sit outside in the cold wind and rain or the hot sun to cheer him on.
After really struggling all season long, on the very last game of the regular season, Miles hit a double and was the tying run of the game. He also played mean defense at 2nd base with no errors. He got the game ball and was very proud. And maybe we were a little bit, too!
One of the highlights of the baseball season is the day that the kids receive their uniforms. They are all bright and shiny and new! And all the parents watch to see what color pants come with the uniform, hoping that they aren’t white.
Guess what color we’ve had for all 3 seasons? Yup. White!
It turns out that keeping baseball pants white is not easy. The pants come home after a game stained with dirt, red clay and grass. And getting the pants as white as possible before the next game is a big deal.
I have had hour-long conversations with other parents about how to get the stains out and keep the pants looking bright and white. You’d be amazed at what parents use to keep pants white!
I finally tried OxiClean™ HD™ Laundry Detergent, which is not my usual detergent. I needed to up my game a little to get the stains out for the playoffs. OxiClean™ restores whites and removes tough stains. After an entire baseball season of having dingy pants, I was willing to upgrade to give it a try.
I used a full cap of the detergent as suggested for heavily soiled clothing. I also pre-treated the knees, which is where the worst stains are at.
Oxiclean™ did the the trick! The pants came out the best they’ve looked since the season started. It got out 12 games worth of clay and dirt that just wouldn’t budge.
Thanks to Oxiclean™ HD™ I don’t need to worry about having the only kid with dirt still on their pants from the last game. My son will be looking sharp and ready for the game. I’m always proud of how my son plays, but now I can also be a proud baseball mom knowing that I’ve done my part in helping keep his uniform clean.
