Give a gift that gives back with one of these unique gifts from World Vision’s 2016 Gift Catalog!

About 7 years ago I attended a Christian women’s conference with a group of friends. At that conference I had the opportunity to hear Rich Stearns, the CEO of World Vision, speak about the organization he was leading.  World Vision is a global Christian humanitarian organization which partners with children, families, and their communities to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice.

That day I chose to sponsor a young girl named Merry who lives in the Philippines. Every month since we have sent a donation to help Merry and her village with things like housing, education, water, agriculture and more.  We have written back and forth to Merry consistently for years.

Last month World Vision informed us that Merry’s village was doing well enough to become independent. They no longer needed our help! While we were sad to learn that we’d no longer be supporting Merry, it was such a joy to know that our small monthly contribution helped an entire village of people rise up out of poverty.

World Vision is one of my favorite charities to support.  Every year since 1996 World Vision has offered a wonderful opportunity to give gifts that truly make a difference through their World Vision Catalog.

The 2016 World Vision Gift Catalog contains more than 250 poverty-fighting gifts  that improve the quality of life for struggling children and families in the U.S. and around the world.

I had a chance to check out some of the unique gifts that World Vision is offering this year.

6 Unique Gifts that Give Back

candle-holderTree of Life Votive Holder – This lovely votive holder is handmade from cast-off materials. Artisans in India work hard to raise themselves out of poverty and help light the way for their children’s education.

Upcycled Artisanal Bowl – This stunning bowl is up-cycled from reclaimed industrial waste such as wires and metal. Artisans in India have hand bent and soldered each piece into inspirational shapes to create this artistic and elaborate bowl that is great as a decorative piece or to hold special items. If you know someone who loves home decor – check this out!

History’s First Coffee Blend – Citrus and chocolate pair up in this 10-ounce whole bean blend of Ethiopian Yirgacheffe and Sumatra Permata Gayo coffees from farmers who are overcoming poverty with their earnings. An olivewood scoop and African bag complete the package. Pair this with any of the gifts from our Coffee Lovers Gift Guide!

Turquoise Medallion Necklace – Handmade by families in Delhi, this brightly-beaded medallion necklace adds a bold pop of color to any outfit. This was my favorite in the set of gifts! It’s gorgeous!

Silver Vines Cuff: Women and girls will love wearing this elegant adjustable silver cuff bracelet designed by artisans in Old Delhi, India, and decorated with an intricately-laced vine pattern. Each bracelet supports their families through fair trade practices.

Royal Silk Scarf – This gorgeous silk scarf adds color to the holidays and supports the needs of children and families worldwide. The luxurious silk is woven by Vietnam’s Ma Chau villagers, who receive sustainable income through their craft. The colors are vibrant and bright.

The money raised from your purchase of these handcrafted gifts goes to World Vision’s Where Most Needed fund, which supports a variety of World Vision’s programs around the world.

This holiday season why not make your gifts make a difference?
