It’s a brand new year and everyone is sharing their “word of the year.” I’ve had a word of the year the past few years, but I’m pretty terrible at trying to keep it in mind for that long. So instead, this year, my goal is more self-care.
Self-care is kind of this new buzz word for taking time for yourself. I think that moms, in general, are pretty bad at taking time out for themselves on a regular basis. Even when I have downtime, I’m not sure what to do!
So here are tips you can use to take care better care of yourself this year.
4 Easy Self Care Tips for Moms
Take up a hobby: I love to read fiction and knit. I rarely do either. I plan to pick up a short book and a small knitting project to work on. Your hobby can be anything small you enjoy doing. We can even call watching TV a hobby! Whatever it is you like to do that you haven’t done in a long time, make time for it in the evenings or weekends.
Eat Lunch: That sounds ridiculous, but I am terrible at eating lunch! I have to feed the rest of the family breakfast and dinner, but I’m on my own for lunch. This year my goal is to try and eat a nice salad for lunch when I’m home alone.
Schedule downtime during the day: I am home alone working from roughly 7:30 AM until 3:00 PM and I just don’t stop. A few times a week, schedule some downtime to just sit and relax. Dunkin’ Donuts has a new line of premium teas that provide the perfect excuse to literally take time out for tea!
Dunkin’ Donuts premium teas are available in 5 flavors Bold Breakfast Black™ Tea; Harmony Leaf Green™ Tea; Chamomile Fields™ Herbal Infusion; Hibiscus Kiss™ Herbal Infusion and Cool Mint Herbal Infusion. I grabbed a cup of Hibiscus Kiss in the drive through, but the teas are also available in boxes of 15 bags each so you can make them right at home, too.
You could also grab a bite to eat for lunch from one of Dunkin’ Donuts full menu including sandwiches and breakfast available all day.
Go to Bed Early: Your day starts early so get plenty of rest! I’m guilty of pushing the clock too late and paying for it the next day. A cup of caffeine-free Dunkin’ Donuts tea like Chamomile Fields, is a great way to wind down at the end of the day.
Hopefully with these self care tips, and a little help from Dunkin’ Donuts tea, your year will be full of rest and relaxation to help you be the best mom possible!
