This year for the first time ever, we threw a Super Bowl party, which meant that Super Bowl Sunday was going to be a busy one. Not only did I have to cook a bunch of Super Bowl food, but we also had church in the morning and we had to run to the airport to pick up my husband’s cousin who flew in that day. Did I mention I had to cook, too? The last I wanted to worry about was making breakfast! I was looking for any way to make our day easier, starting with a delicious breakfast for my crew. Coffee and muffins seemed like the perfect choice for a quick and easy football party breakfast.
While I was shopping for our breakfast at Walmart, I noticed a “Delicious Pairings” display for Starbuck ground coffee. I am not normally a Starbucks drinker at home, but the Delicious Pairings information drew me in. The display told you what kind of breakfast food different blends of coffee paired well with.
We’re light to medium roast drinkers to I opted to get the Starbucks Medium Breakfast Blend ground coffee. Since the sign told me it paired well with nuts, apple and blueberry flavors, I decided to get The Bakery at Walmart blueberry muffins, too.
I have to admit I wasn’t really expecting much with this “pairing” idea, but I was pleasantly surprised! The blueberry muffin with the coffee made the coffee almost taste like it was actually flavored. I could definitely pick up on the complementary notes in the coffee when eating the muffin.
My husband and I have a favorite coffee we like to brew at home. We generally only drink Starbucks at a Starbucks store, but I really enjoyed the Starbucks Medium Breakfast Blend brewed at home. In fact, everyone at breakfast enjoyed the Starbucks and the muffins. I’m definitely a homemade muffin girl, but I know my limits and The Bakery at Walmart muffins were fantastic. I wouldn’t hesitate to pick them up again when I needed a break from the morning routine… like for our pre-Super Bowl 48 party!
