Irish Cream French Toast Recipe

Irish Cream French Toast from growingupgabel.com @thegabels #recipe #breakfast

Here is a fun multicultural breakfast treat - Irish cream French toast.  It's so delicious, you don't even need syrup - just some bread, eggs and homemade Irish cream coffee creamer.   Of course this would be great for St. Patrick's Day! Oh breakfast - I love to be fancy at breakfast.  German oven pancakes, red velvet pancakes,  bananas foster French toast ... apparently I like to be fancy with bread.  I'm Ok with that!  So when I had a couple of comments on my homemade Irish cream coffee creamer recipe about how delicious it sounded, but they aren't coffee drinkers, well, what a shame to waste such a yummy treat. So I made french toast with it.  This turned out so yummy my 4 year old son kept saying "I just can't stop eating this!"  I had to agree! The creamer has quite a bit of sugar in it so watch it when it's cooking or it'll burn because sugar helps things brown up.  The french toast is also pretty sweet so I didn't put out the syrup with it - just a few dabs of ... Heart Shaped Cinnamon Rolls

Heart Cinnamon Rolls from Growing Up Gabel @thegabels #recipe

Homemade cinnamon rolls are easier to make than you think - I promise!  They are also very easy to change up and make for special occasions like Valentine's Day! Just use your favorite cinnamon roll recipe to make a delicious homemade treat for any day.   I love to make cinnamon rolls! I have several different recipes I use to make them - mini cinnamon rolls, a cinnamon roll ring, and just basic cinnamon rolls. My favorite way to make them, though, is to take a batch of never fail easy bread dough, and make that in to cinnamon rolls.  Really, you can use any bread dough you like - even a frozen loaf will work.   I saw some heart shaped cinnamon rolls on Pinterest weeks ago and thought they'd be a super cute Valentine treat for my kids. The process to transform normal cinnamon rolls in to heart shaped cinnamon rolls is fairly simple. I used my Maple Java Cinnamon Roll recipe, but I wasn't thrilled with the results. Next time I'll just use bread dough. First, ... [read more]

Mini Blueberry Pancake Cups

Mini Blueberry Pancake Cups From Growing Up Gabel @thegabels

My kids love pancakes so I have quite a few pancake recipes. I have recipes for red velvet pancakes, gingerbread pancakes, German oven pancakes, and baked pancakes, just to name a few.  We love them all! But my favorites are blueberry pancakes and mini blueberry pancakes...those just sound fun so we gave them a try. This month I was assigned Emily's blog,  It Bakes Me Happy, as a part of The Secret Recipe Club.  Emily has the cutest website with some pretty delicious recipes.  I had planned to make Shrimp Creole, hoping it'd make a good Mardi Gras dinner, but then our grocery store had blueberries on sale and I couldn't pass up the chance to bake with them.   Emily has a lot of awesome blueberry muffin recipes like Lime Blueberry Muffins. Then I saw her Pancake Minis and since I have a brand new mini-muffin pan, I decided to make them in to blueberry pancakes. This pancake recipe took me just a few minutes to whip up.  If I'd had some homemade baking mix on hand, ... [read more]

Super Bowl Football Party Breakfast #DeliciousPairings

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This year for the first time ever, we threw a Super Bowl party, which meant that Super Bowl Sunday was going to be a busy one. Not only did I have to cook a bunch of Super Bowl food, but we also had church in the morning and we had to run to the airport to pick up my husband's cousin who flew in that day.  Did I mention I had to cook, too?  The last I wanted to worry about was making breakfast! I was looking for any way to make our day easier, starting with a delicious breakfast for my crew.  Coffee and muffins seemed like the perfect choice for a quick and easy football party breakfast. While I was shopping for our breakfast at Walmart, I noticed a "Delicious Pairings"  display for Starbuck ground coffee.  I am not normally a Starbucks drinker at home, but the Delicious Pairings information drew me in.  The display told you what kind of breakfast food different blends of coffee paired well with. We're light to medium roast drinkers to I opted to get the Starbucks ... [read more]

Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Breakfast Sandwich Sliders #JennieO4Kids

Bacon, Cheese, Egg Breakfast Sandwiches - Growing Up Gabel @thegabels #recipes #breakfast #Jennie-O4Kids

Eating breakfast together as a family is a great way to start the day.  It's also important to eat food that will keep everyone full throughout until lunch. Eating proteins like bacon or sausage at breakfast are a great way to do just that.  Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Breakfast Sandwich Sliders are an easy recipe that will help everyone start the day off right.       I am a big believer in eating breakfast.  Breakfast wakes your body up and gets you going for the day.   I am also a big fan of protein for breakfast.  So even if we're having scones or breakfast cookies, we'll also have some kind of meat on the side. We're also fortunate that breakfast is not usually rushed for us because, as homeschoolers, we generally don't have anywhere we have to be.  So I do have the time to cook breakfast on most mornings.  My husband, however, leaves the house for work around 6 AM and for years he was skipping breakfast.  I finally decided that we needed to come up with some ...
