Easy Parmesan Cheese Bread

Cheese Bread

Cheese bread is one of my favorite forms of carbs.  This cheese bread is basically a savory version of a cream puff.  The batter comes together quickly with just butter, water, flour and eggs.  Stir in cheese and bake for an easy cheese bread perfect for any night! I didn't set out to make cheese bread for this month's Secret Recipe Club.  In fact, On The Move - In the Galley made it very difficult to choose a recipe.  What an amazing collection of recipes there are on this blog!  I really didn't have anything in mind when I went searching.  The crepes with Lemon Parsley Sauce look amazing.  When I saw the Parmesan Puff recipe and realized that it is basically a savory rendition of a cream puff, I knew I had to try it. What I love about this recipe is that you can make it your own very easily.  I just used Parmesan cheese, but any cheese would work.  Then add your favorite herbs - straight from your garden, perhaps.  We ate these with all sorts of meals - salmon, ... Slow Cooker Bread: Easy Dinner Rolls #SundaySupper

Slow Cooker Dinner Rolls

Making bread in your slow cooker is an easy way to have fresh bread without using the oven. These easy no knead dinner rolls will be ready in no time and your family will love them! Oh yes, you read that title correctly - bread in your slow cooker.  This week's Sunday Supper is all about cooking low and slow. The other night I baked dinner rolls in my slow cooker!  Ok, to be perfectly sincere, I baked the rolls in the slow cooker and then browned them up under the broiler... but still! The fact that I can now make dinner rolls in something other than the oven is stupendous.  Think Thanksgiving here, folks.  One less side dish that needs precious oven space. Besides, it's just fun to bake bread in your slow cooker. I decided to make bread in the slow cooker with a no knead bread recipe.  You can use any one you like, and there are several available, but my favorite is from Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day.  I highly, highly recommend this book.  It will change ... Peanut Butter and Jelly Grilled Sandwiches for National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day!

Grilled Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches

In honor of National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day, my kids and I created a Peanut Butter and Jelly Grilled Sandwich recipe! A little butter and some heat will turn your plain Jane PB & J sandwich in to a fun lunchtime treat. Did you know that April 12th is National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day? It is and we couldn't let that day slide by without a proper celebration!   In honor of the big day, Welch's sent me some of their Welch's Natural Spreads to create a peanut butter and jelly recipe with a twist.  Welch's Natural Spreads are right up my alley - they are not made with high fructose corn syrup and don't have artificial flavors or colors or preservatives. We used homemade bread, homemade peanut butter, Welch's Concord Grape Natural Spread and butter to make our peanut butter and jelly grilled sandwiches.  I simply made the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches like I normally would. Once the sandwich was made, I spread butter on the outside of both sides of ... [read more]

Irish Cream French Toast Recipe

Irish Cream French Toast from growingupgabel.com @thegabels #recipe #breakfast

Here is a fun multicultural breakfast treat - Irish cream French toast.  It's so delicious, you don't even need syrup - just some bread, eggs and homemade Irish cream coffee creamer.   Of course this would be great for St. Patrick's Day! Oh breakfast - I love to be fancy at breakfast.  German oven pancakes, red velvet pancakes,  bananas foster French toast ... apparently I like to be fancy with bread.  I'm Ok with that!  So when I had a couple of comments on my homemade Irish cream coffee creamer recipe about how delicious it sounded, but they aren't coffee drinkers, well, what a shame to waste such a yummy treat. So I made french toast with it.  This turned out so yummy my 4 year old son kept saying "I just can't stop eating this!"  I had to agree! The creamer has quite a bit of sugar in it so watch it when it's cooking or it'll burn because sugar helps things brown up.  The french toast is also pretty sweet so I didn't put out the syrup with it - just a few dabs of ... Heart Shaped Cinnamon Rolls

Heart Cinnamon Rolls from Growing Up Gabel @thegabels #recipe

Homemade cinnamon rolls are easier to make than you think - I promise!  They are also very easy to change up and make for special occasions like Valentine's Day! Just use your favorite cinnamon roll recipe to make a delicious homemade treat for any day.   I love to make cinnamon rolls! I have several different recipes I use to make them - mini cinnamon rolls, a cinnamon roll ring, and just basic cinnamon rolls. My favorite way to make them, though, is to take a batch of never fail easy bread dough, and make that in to cinnamon rolls.  Really, you can use any bread dough you like - even a frozen loaf will work.   I saw some heart shaped cinnamon rolls on Pinterest weeks ago and thought they'd be a super cute Valentine treat for my kids. The process to transform normal cinnamon rolls in to heart shaped cinnamon rolls is fairly simple. I used my Maple Java Cinnamon Roll recipe, but I wasn't thrilled with the results. Next time I'll just use bread dough. First, ... [read more]
