Made In America: Flap Happy and Kai Beans Kids Clothing

When it comes to myself and my kids, I believe in keeping a pretty minimal wardrobe.  My goal is 8-10 days worth of clothing with a dress outfit for each person.  The problem is that we wear summer clothing for a good 8 months and winter clothes for the other 4. Our summer clothes definitely get more wear and tear.  So when I buy my kids clothes I definitely look for quality over quantity.  I truly believe that clothing made in America is better quality than clothing made elsewhere!

I was surprised to discover that quite a bit of American made clothing is made in Southern California.  I was even happier to discover Flap Happy and Kai Bean Kids who manufacture children’s clothing in Santa Monica!

She loves, loves this dress!

Flap Happy was started by a mom 25 years ago specializing in sun hats for kids (and they are so CUTE!).   Flap Happy then expanded to swimwear, playwear, outerwear and headwear.   My daughter Ella only wears dresses so of course she chose a dress to try.  As soon as it arrived, she put it on … and wore it for three days before I insisted on washing it.  She received so many compliments on the dress and it really is adorable.  I love the unique design and the bright colorful patterns.  The dress is very well constructed and has held up to constant wearing and lots of play!

Kai Bean Kids   is the newest member of the Flap Happy family and this line is just for boys.  This clothing is all about comfy, casual and California living!  When my son tried on his Kai Bean Kids sweatshirt, my husband (not knowing where it came from) remarked that Miles looked ready for a day of surfing on the California beach!   I love this sweatshirt.  I think it’s the trendiest piece of clothing Miles owns.  I love all the little details that make it that way like the frayed seams and the cute elbow patches.  The French terry is super soft and cozy and it was hard to convince Miles that he didn’t need the sweatshirt in 106 degree weather.  If they carried this in my size, I’d be ordering one!  Overall this is a well made, easy to wear and very stylish sweatshirt.
