Try out Indian food with the new Seven Spoons line of frozen meals. Perfect for a quick week night meal!
A few weeks ago new company, Seven Spoons, contacted me to ask if I’d be interested in trying out one of their new all-natural skillet meals. The first product available to consumers is the company’s Chicken Biryani – a bright, bold Indian dish. Though the name of this dish was not be familiar to me at all, Seven Spoons assured me that this chef-created wholesome dish is easy to prepare and packed full of flavor that even the most conservative palette will enjoy.
My husband and I happen to love Indian food and trying new dishes so I agreed to give the Chicken Briyani a try in my own kitchen. The Briyani consisted of aromatic basmati rice, seasoned chicken, caramelized onions and dry roasted cashews blend together in a savory masala sauce.
The briyani was very easy to make. I had a very flavorful dinner on the table in under 10 minutes. I really enjoyed the flavors although my husband felt they were a bit overpowering. I also very much liked that the briyani is made with ingredients I knew and understood. The ingredient list is great!
I do have some reservations about Seven Spoons offerings that would make me hesitant to purchase the product again. The package said that it would feed 3 people, but it barely fed two of us just one meal. Second, because I don’t have a microwave, I couldn’t make the rice that came with the meal. I realize that most people do have a microwave, but I would have liked another option for cooking it. Finally, the package cooking directions instruct you to purchase a small container of Greek yogurt for the raita sauce. I had to go to several stores to find a small container of plain Greek yogurt. Then we only used about 2 teaspoons of the sauce and threw the rest of the container away. So unless you love raita, I’d skip that part!
