Seven years ago my husband and I moved from the green East Coast to the brown Nevada desert.  We left behind family, friends… and mosquitoes!  Aside from 360 days a year of sunshine, the second best thing about living in Las Vegas is the lack of those pesky mosquitoes.

While we have few mosquitoes, we do have bugs.  In fact, many Las Vegans have some nasty issues with scorpions.  Our issue, however, is much less painful albeit super icky — cockroaches.  I never had to deal with cockroaches on the East Coast and while they are harmless, they are really gross and they totally freak out my kids.   They come out in the summer and get out of control if you don’t deal with them.  So of course, the bug spray guys get a lot of business this time of year.  But I can’t in good conscience call the bug spray guys because I don’t trust what they’re spraying.  We’ve pretty much just dealt with having cockroaches during the summer.

So when the folks at Nature-Cide asked if I wanted to try out their all natural insect sprays, I was completely game! I was a little doubtful about their claims that their spray is completely safe to use around children and pets.  But then I read the ingredient list: cedar oil, citronella oil, clove oil, garlic oil, mint oil, etc.   Um, I sell most of those oils!   I love the fact that my new bug spray is made with essential oils!

Does it work? It’s too early to really tell and cockroaches are just plain hard to get rid of.  We’ve sprayed the outdoor spray in the areas where cockroaches show up and the indoor spray around our doors.  We’ve only seen maybe two cockroaches in the house since and that’s a pretty low number for this time of year.  The best part, though, was when I caught my kids with one of the Nature-Cide bottles in the garage trying to get rid of a bug (they HATE bugs).  I had a moment of panic finding my 3 and 5 year old with a bottle of bug spray that I thought I’d put out of reach… but then I relaxed and was so happy it wasn’t some other chemical bug spray.

I also love the fact that Nature-Cide is made right here in America!  I’ve spent a lot of time the past few months tracking down products made in America and they can be hard to find.  I’m happy to support a quality product that is made right here in the states.

Would you like to try Nature-Cide?   FIVE WINNERS will win their choice of either the Indoor or Outdoor repellent! Just come back on July 4th for the Made in the USA Giveaway Blog Hop!

  3. I agree! I hate the thought of blanket spraying to kill everything..i always try natural remedies…with mixed success. i end up hand picking most pests from my garden, but by the end of the summer they seem to always win…
