Divinely Inspired Chocolate Candy from Skinny Cow

Skinny Cow Divine Filled Chocolates Candy

Who doesn't love chocolate? Ok, I'm sure someone in the world doesn't love chocolate, but let's face it, chocolate makes the world a better place. And with Easter just around the corner, it seems I'm finding chocolate everywhere!  I particularly prefer my chocolate in the form of brownies, but sometimes, I just want to open up a package of decadence and enjoy a little sweetness. Skinny Cow's new Divine Filled Chocolates are a truly a divine way to fulfill that chocolate craving. The weather around is getting warm - like 80's and even maybe the 90's warm! Spring is definitely here which means it's almost Easter and then... swimsuit season.  Balancing that need for some chocolate, especially in our Easter baskets, with trying not to add any additional, unwanted curves to the waistline can be a little tricky.  Skinny Cow to the rescue! The NEW Skinny Cow Divine Filled Chocolates are only 130 calories for 3 pieces. My kind of Easter, pre-swimsuit chocolate. Of course, I ... [read more]

Heart Shaped Cinnamon Rolls

Heart Cinnamon Rolls from Growing Up Gabel @thegabels #recipe

Homemade cinnamon rolls are easier to make than you think - I promise!  They are also very easy to change up and make for special occasions like Valentine's Day! Just use your favorite cinnamon roll recipe to make a delicious homemade treat for any day.   I love to make cinnamon rolls! The process to transform normal cinnamon rolls in to heart shaped cinnamon rolls is fairly simple. I used my Maple Java Cinnamon Roll recipe, but I wasn't thrilled with the results. Next time I'll just use bread dough. First, ... [read more]

Easy Valentine’s Day Recipe for Kids: Valentine Chex Mix

Valentine Chex Mix from Growing Up Gabel @thegabels #recipe

My kids are loving cooking with me in the kitchen.  So I wanted to hunt down an easy valentine's day recipe we could make together.  I still have leftover cereal from our holiday Slow Cooker Chex Mix marathons so we made a Valentine Chex Mix to satisfy our sweet tooth. My kids are finally getting to the age where we can cook together without me having panic attacks.  The kids still make a gigantic mess, but at least I'm not worried about anyone doing any real bodily damage.  We've made sugar cookies together during Christmas and they were more than happy to help mix up some hot chocolate mix.  It was time to move on to a snack. This is basically a "puppy chow" type of recipe that uses white chocolate chips instead of chocolate chips.  I'm wondering how butterscotch or even cinnamon chips would taste.  It's kind of hard to see in my photos, but you only coat half the cereal with powdered sugar to give it a two tone look.  That didn't really work for us, but the kids ...
